About

MetaHara Productions

MetaHara is dedicated to bringing unique stories to life while employing a diverse group of talented and skilled people. Years of developing relationships with vendors, crew, and cast ensure a smooth production at a reasonable rate. MetaHara means beyond or with joy.

Noticing a lack of diversity on set inspired Thomai to establish MetaHara in 2003 and create opportunities that include and celebrate the talent of a diverse, qualified cast and crew.

MetaHara continues to seek innovative, creative projects to reach a broad audience. We provide a healthy, collaborative work environment, encouraging all members of our diverse team to express creatively, learn, and grow as we bring projects to life.

About The Founder

Thomai Hatsios produces and directs film, television, music videos, commercials, and documentaries via MetaHara and as a freelancer for hire.

Four feature-length films Thomai produced have won awards and screened in over 40 festivals. Two commercials Thomai produced won Telly awards. She’s produced multiple successful true crime shows, short films, two of the top 10 most viewed web series, and music videos, including the Drake/Makonnen music video “Tuesday,” which garnered over 150 Million views.

Thomai has directed national brand commercials, independent musician’s music videos, and over 40 episodes of True Crime recreations for ABC, ID, Oxygen, and Lifetime. She’s directed live comedic improv and scripted comedic skits.

Before arriving in Los Angeles and the film industry, Thomai toured modern art museums and venues with her conceptual, multi-media installation performance art and activism; she performed and hosted poetry festivals and slams in Detroit and NYC. Thomai’s training in dance, martial arts, and aerial work inform her work ethic.

Born and raised in Detroit, Thomai has also lived in NYC, New Orleans, Chicago, and Seattle. As a documentary filmmaker, she immersed herself in Morocco, Brazil, and Mexico. Spending many summers in Greece, where her family is from, she also traveled to several European countries.

A problem solver with an insatiable curiosity, Thomai studied alternative healing modalities to complement modern medicine. Thomai participates in mutual aid, guiding meditation, teaching self-defense, and serving the unhoused population. She mentors and enjoys guest lecturing at various universities and workshops.

“Production is the birthing process, and the story is a new life we work together to deliver.”  Thomai Hatsios
